1918 - 2012

VAN BUREN- Claude J. Lajoie, 93, died April 13, 2012 at a Van Buren health care facility. He was born April 30, 1918 in Cyr Plantation, the son of Michel and Methaide (Vaillancourt) Lajoie. He served proudly with the U.S. Army during World War II with the 802nd Military Police Battalion and was a member of the American Legion, Post 49 of Van Buren. Claude worked for Potato Service, Inc. as a processor for many years. He is survived by three sons, Claude Lajoie, Jr. and wife Linda of Cocoa, Fla., Kenneth Lajoie and wife Vickie of Bath, and James Lajoie of Tolland, Conn.; six daughters, Eileen Levesque and her husband Ivan, Claudette Grivois and her husband Nelson, Nancy Duplessis, Sandra Cyr and her husband Guildo, all of Van Buren; Joan Theriault and her husband Alyre of Siegas, N.B., Freda Levesque and her husband Alan of Vernon, Conn.; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Irene (St. Pierre) Lajoie, and by a daughter, Ann Marie Tenny, and by a grandson Mark Theriault. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, April 17 at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery later this spring.
